Press Release

December 10, 2021

Notification to all Mahoning County Residents:

The Mahoning County EMA is alerting all residents within Mahoning County of a possible failure of the Weather Alerting System should severe weather hit our area. The County’s sirens failed during the last Tornado Warning in October. Repairs were made and the systems was fully operational. This week, during a scheduled test, the sirens failed a second time. With severe weather possible tonight and tomorrow, the EMA is asking residents to keep an eye on the weather and stay informed through local media if the situation deteriorates. All efforts are being made to remedy the immediate problems. A full reorganization of the Warning System is in place with full implementation slated for the first of the year.
